Restitution payments can only be made through the clerk if specifically ordered by the court. In many cases, the restitution order directs payment directly to the victim or to the Probation office. It is important to review your court order carefully to ensure payment is made to the proper party. Restitution payments may be made in the form of cash, check, money order or certified check. Payment should be made payable to: Palm Beach County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller.  Each restitution payment must be accompanied by a $3.50 fee pursuant to Florida Statute. 

If you have been directed to make the payment to the clerk, you may make your payment either in person or by mail at the location most convenient to you. See a list of Clerk locations.  

There is a $3.50 processing fee required by Florida Statute that must be paid for each payment made. Do not send cash through the mail.

If the payment is to be made directly to the victim, it is best to contact your attorney for advice on how to best satisfy this requirement. When making the payment to any party, it is important that you obtain a receipt or other documentation to show you have paid the court-ordered restitution. 

The clerk cannot issue a satisfaction for restitution payments as we are not the beneficiary of the payment – the victim is. Additionally, the clerk only accepts payments made towards the principal amount owed on the restitution. We do not collect any interest on a restitution order. A satisfaction of judgment for restitution would need to be provided by the victim to the defendant once the restitution is paid in full. 

Once the payment is processed with the clerk, a disbursement request will be prepared and sent to the Clerk's Accounting Department. The Accounting Department will process the request, issue a check and mail it to the named victim at the address provided in the Victim’s Notification form.

If you have been directed to pay restitution in a Juvenile Delinquency case, you may make your payment either in person or by mail. If paying in person, you may pay at one of the following locations:

• Main Courthouse (West Palm Beach),
• South County Courthouse (Delray Beach)
• West County Courthouse (Belle Glade).   
  
  

Due to the confidential nature of Juvenile cases, Juvenile restitution payments are only accepted at the locations listed above. 

If sending your Juvenile restitution payment by mail, please include the following information with your payment:

• Include the juvenile’s complete name and case number
• Indicate that the payment is for "restitution"
• Include a $3.50 clerk’s processing fee for each restitution payment
