• Can I renew my passport by mail?

  If you answer YES to all of the below questions, you MUST renew your passport by mail. For instructions and forms, visit the U.S. Department of State website.

  • Can you submit your most recent U.S. passport book and/or U.S. passport card?
  • Were you at least 16 years old when your most recent U.S. passport was issued?
  • Were you issued your most recent U.S. passport less than 15 years ago?
  • Has the U.S. passport you are renewing not been mutilated, damaged, lost, stolen, or subsequently found?
  • Has your U.S. passport not been limited from the normal ten year validity period?
  • Will you use the same name as on your most recent U.S. passport, OR have you had your name changed by marriage or court order and can submit proper documentation to reflect the name change?

• How can I check the status of my passport application?

  You can use the U.S Department of State’s U.S. Passport Application Status tool to check the status of your application.

• How do I cancel my passport appointment?

  To cancel your scheduled appointment, locate your confirmation email with the subject line of "Appointment Confirmation" and click on the cancellation link located at the bottom of the email. If you are unable to locate the original email, please email a request to cancel your appointment to the location you had planned to have the service at:

• I need my passport in a hurry. Should I pay for expedited processing of my passport application?

  Mail delays are impacting how long it takes to get a passport.

  • Routine processing: 8 to 11 weeks once the State Department receives your application
  • Expedited processing: 5 to 7 weeks once the State Department receives your application

  *Processing times do not include mail delivery each way.
